This week I'm asking you questions!

Let's talk rom-coms! What's your favorite romantic comedy? And what is it that you love about it; what makes it your favorite?

As for me . . . this is a really tough call, but I think I'm going with . . .  High Fidelity. I love the characters, the situations, the dialogue. It's clever and funny and Tom likes it, too. It's one of those movies we've watched over and over -- and it still makes us laugh every time. In fact, some lines and scenes (like the one in the screen shot above) make us laugh just thinking about them! (In second place, I think maybe Four Weddings and a Funeral? But what about Bull Durham??? This is such a hard question. . . )

How about YOU? I can't wait to hear about your favorite rom-com!

I would have said I'm not a big fan of rom-coms, but after thinking about it, I do have some favorites. In no particular order: The Princess Bride, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and High Fidelity. I do love John Cusack!

Sarah

I'm a big rom-com fan. I'm not sure I can pick a favorite, but there are many that I will watch over and over: My Big Fat Greek Wedding, You've Got Mail, The Princess Bridge, Sleepless in Seattle, Notting Hill, Something's Gotta Give, 27 Dresses. I'm sure there are more! I recognize that rom-coms aren't a very realistic depiction of actual relationships, but I enjoy a happy ending with some laughs along the way.

Hmmm, at first I was going to say... none... but thanks to Google, I found one! Breakfast at Tiffany's! Ha!
I did not realize that was a rom-com (I don't think they used that slang in 1961!)

Margene

I love Bull Durham and High Fidelity, plus Say Anything. Also, Breakfast Club. With that said, I'm not really a fan of the Rom-com genre.

Debbie

I’m not a big fan of Rom-com movies, but do enjoy them occasionally. My favorite is Moonstruck, I watch it about once a year.

Vicki

We have an ever-growing selection of Rom-coms... on VHS! The girls love them, and there's something about You've Got Mail the way it was originally viewed (at home). I think my favorite movie genre is drama, but I do love a good Rom-com from time to time -- the aforementioned, along with almost any of Meg Ryan's, Sandra Bullock's, and even some of Julia Roberts' and J.Lo's in the genre (though I'm skeptical about the newest J.Lo movie).

When I saw the title of your post, my reaction was: "I don't like rom-coms with the exception of high fidelity."

Patty

I’ve never seen High Fidelity! 😬 I love Monster-in-Law, Overboard, all things Meg Ryan and Julia. I guess I’m a rom com fan!

Carole

I'm a fan of rom-com's and my favorite, without hesitation, is When Harry Met Sally. Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan are magic in that and I can (and do!) watch it over and over again. Plus, it's Nora Ephron. And Rob Reiner.

I'm trying to think of one that no one has said yet, but I'm not coming up with anything. Nora Ephron did remind me of Heartburn, which I'm not sure counts. Bridget Jones Diary! There's one! If I'm in the mood for one, it's always, always, Meg Ryan. And maybe The Devil Wears Prada but there's not a lot of Rom in that com either.

Geri

Anything with Meg Ryan back before too many nip and tucks. Harry Met Sally is my fav. Pretty Woman with Julia is another good one. I didn’t think about Princess Bride but both hubby and I like that one.

Dee

I read all the comments and so far:

I saw a very small part of Moonstruck and Pretty Woman.

I got dragged to see The Devil Wears Prada --- pretty much HATED it, but did like seeing the Paris scenery.

I saw all of My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Enjoyed that one, especially when the granny got caught in the sprinkler system when she was trying to sneak out. Oh and the constant referrals to Windex. ;-)

I am not much of a movie watcher. The last movie I saw in the theater was Despicable Me and before that it was Monsters, Inc. Sooooooooooooooooooooooo...........

sustainablemum

Hmm not sure. I did love Four Weddings and a Funeral but have only watched it once. I honestly don't know. I haven't watched a film in years so anything I will have watched will have been before children which feels like longer than 17+ years ago and there have been too many sleepless nights since then to remember the titles of any.

Chris

I choose High Fidelity as my favorite, but I also really liked Grosse Point Blank. I had a definite preference for John Cusack movies back in the day!
