Inside Out . . . and Round and Round

(Soundtrack for today's post . . . click here.)

Just before I left for my Mayo visit last week, I cast on for what is probably The Perfect Travel Knit . . .

Because after a sorta tricky cast on (easily sorted with Emily Ocker's magic cast on) (I need to watch this You Tube video every time, btw), it's just knit-knit-knit for miles.

And the result?

Best. Hat. Ever.

Seriously perfect!

It's . . . Warm. Comfortable. Easy to wear.
I've already cast on for another one.
(I'm completely smitten.)
(This could easily be my next "knitting jag." Because I'm pretty sure everyone in my family needs one. . . )

That may be the perfect hat and you look great in it! I'm planning on casting on a Musselburgh in the New Year so it can be my travel knitting for the remaining few trips back and forth to MD.

So cute! I think I need to get on the bandwagon once my finger is functional! LOL

I love the color yarn... those muted stripes are so good!

Sarah

I completely agree -- and it's making me look at my bin of sock yarn in a totally new way, especially given that I'm overflowing with hand-knit socks. Love your version!

I sort of "unvented" a new way to to the cast on (someone else has probably already figured it out, too, but I've never seen it), and I'll be sharing it on my blog this Friday.

Vera

That looks so warm and cozy and so cute on you Kym! The colors in the yarn are perfect. I may need to jump on this bandwagon...so many things to knit!! And not enough time!!!

Musselburgh IS the perfect no-brainer hat pattern — yours is great! I need to make one!

Carole

It's a great hat and it looks terrific on you! I've been working on mine since August LOL.

Dee

That hat looks great on you. You chose perfect colors!

Carolyn

A great hat on you! And I love your wintertime pot by the door...

Carolyn

Me again :) I just hopped on Ravelry to scope out the pattern, and I had to pop back in to tell you I REALLY like how you're wearing this. Everyone's cuffing it--but I like your slouch style so much better!

Kt looks great!

Debbie

What a great hat & it looks good on you! I'm going to check out the pattern for my next project!

Jane

I'm glad to read your review of that pattern. I have wanted to try it. Maybe I'll save it for some late Spring traveling. The muted stripes are so pretty.

Musselburgh has been sitting in my Ravelry library and queue for too long. Time to grab some of my sock yarn this weekend.

Mary

I have a Musselburgh on the needles but had to put it aside to finish two Affiknity sweaters that the recipients got last week at our family only gathering in an AirBnb in Chattanooga(ish). See photos at:

https://www.ravelry.com/projects/MidjMcB/affiknity-video-sweater-class

Also suffered an injury to a finger, walking the dog, that was exacerbated while finishing the sweaters on the drive to Chattanooga, and in the late afternoons once there.

My Musselburgh is Gauge Dye Works Whiskey in a Teacup.

I have the yarn for one made in the Planets colorway next.

Mary

yay! it looks great on you and I'm so excited to knit my first one ... soon!

Margene

I've got one on the needles, too! Mine is a rainbow of stripes with gray between each one. The hat is my new use for the stripy sock year I love.
