So Many Ways To . . . Unravel
05/01/2019
I have plenty of hobbies in my life.
(PLENTY)
I read. I knit. I sew. I paint. I draw. I garden. I stitch. I yoga.
I DO NOT NEED another hobby.
I DO NOT.
NOT.
But there I was, sitting in an all-day workshop last Saturday.
Learning about Shibori dyeing.
Gleefully painting a gradient.
Joyously wrapping and scrunching.
Totally amazed.
And, well. . .
completely charmed.
So much mess.
So much fun.
I think I might have a new hobby.

It's a new hobby, sure, but it also fits in very nicely with your other hobbies. What will you DO with those gorgeous fabrics?

A new hobby is always good, especially if it encourages you to make a creative mess. Beautiful results with the dying.

Nice work! But dangerous trying new things that are addicting lol

How pretty! I'd say this isn't an entirely new hobby, just an extension of your other existing hobbies.

You may not need another hobby, but it looks like a new hobby has found you! I don't think you can just stop now after those gorgeous blues and delightful golds and browns. I would welcome a post on shibori dyeing someday!

oh fun! I love those colors! ...I've been fascinated with dyeing for a while. There was a project tutorial in Making a few years back (the color issue?) about dyeing with flowers and we have quite the crop of marigolds :-)

I LOVE taking dyeing classes as it isn't something I can or want to do at home, BUT I think it is so fun to learn all about dyeing and its effects on fabric. SO FUN! What you've created is so cool! I can't wait to see where you go with your new hobby!!

Oh my heavens this is absolutely beautiful. Definitely worth a class. I was into natural dyeing for a while but it takes a lot of space and materials and it is much easier to do it in a class.
