Sometimes Mondays

One of THOSE Days

"In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act."
--- Unknown (although often attributed to George Orwell*)

It's another of those days when . . .

So I'm going to control what I can control.  I'm going to pet my dogs.  And text my kids.  And hug my husband.  And dig in the garden.  And clean my bathroom.

Speak truth, my friends.
Shout it from the rooftops.

(Here's a thought-provoking essay by Rebecca Solnit - one of my favorite authors/thinkers.  Just thought y'all might be interested.)

*  Although this quote is often attributed to George Orwell, a thorough analysis shows that he never said those actual words, all together, as a quote (written or spoken).  Read all about it here.

If I was not getting my mammogram tomorrow, I'd be tempted to head off to DC to the march in Lafayette Park.

And, I agree... control what I can, and be immersed in those things. And, yes... truth. Always.

So, I waited to comment until reading the Rebecca Solnit article and came in number two. Seriously, her insights are so telling and the range of evidence compelling. It’s definitely a piece to read again and to share it with others. Thank you, Kym.

P.S. I had MSNBC on covering Trump’s meeting with Putin—more material for Ms. Solnit.

Yes, I agree, tell the truth. (My parents are gone but they are still hovering on my shoulder whenever it seems a lie is in the making. I have a really hard time telling even a white lie.)
Rebecca Solnit is one of my favorite authors too.

Yes, tell the truth, always. Thanks for sharing the Solnit essay, it is just what I needed to read. I am just sick about it all!

It's come down to this: Republicans need to choose between supporting America and supporting Trump. Could this finally, finally be the straw that breaks the camel's back? Sadly, probably not, but I can still have hope.

Like Carole, I still have hope, but the latest has just sickened me to the point where it is even hard to comment.

I've hoped many times before that Republicans would finally understand, see the truth, and do the right thing, but this time his lies seem especially egregious. All we can do is spread the truth and help others see that that is the only way we can save ourselves.

...and now today we have the completely inane "mis-speaking" story. just when I think things cannot possibly get worse, they do. (and we have a primary runoff campaign going on here ... thank goodness the candidates aren't advertising on the golf channel.)

I just can.not.even. Mylo is my refuge and staying away from news coverage is easy to do when you have squeakies to throw and black heads to pet and black noses to kiss. xo
