Bloomin' Friday
05/20/2016
I've had a really busy week. A bit of this, a little of that, and far too much of the other thing. Good stuff, for the most part. But not a whole lot of extra time. Whenever I could, though, I got out in my garden.
Which is (finally) coming to life!
(Garden Buddha is so happy to be surrounded by creeping jenny . . . instead of snow!)
Everything is POPPING now!
Ferns unfurling.
Leaves emerging.
Hosta unrolling.
And blooms?
Oh, yeah. Blooms!
Lovely, incredible lilacs.
Epimedium (barrenwort) with their sweet, barely-there flowers.
Allium - just beginning to pop! (More of my Hundreds of Bulbs from last fall.)
Fothergilla.
And this unknown lily-type bulb. I have them all over my yard -- white and pink and blue. (I know I planted them as bulbs-obtained-cheaply Once Upon a Time -- but they have naturalized and now appear all over.) (And I have no idea what they are.) (But I don't care. Because wonderful.)
I've also got hops. (Oh, brother... Do I have hops...)
Garden Priority One this weekend? Taming those hops. (Before they take over the world.)
I hope there are lots of blooms in your world this Friday, too.
Happy weekend!
Kym, your garden is just gorgeous!! And, for a busy week, this looks so lush, green, and relaxing! Have a happy weekend! XO

Your garden is really beautiful, and I always learn something from your posts! I've never heard of Fothergilla, but love the name and the plant. Wishing you a wonderful weekend, success with taming hops, and maybe a good glass or two of beer to really show those hops who's the boss!

Thank you for this breath of spring. I am hoping there are no more snowstorms in Colerful Colorado. Amazing how resilient spring is despite the weather!

Love all the variety of plants and flowers you have in your garden.
My hostas are really fabulous this year and I was completely delighted by the Jack Frost brunnera I planted last year as it bloomed with the sweetest blue flowers! I had no idea!

Hi Kym
Could the bulbs be Spanish bluebells? Not sure, but they look very similar to your photo.
PS - received my card - many thanks! Will send a reply in the next few weeks.

Such a beautiful and inspiring garden. I can just hear the deer licking their chops to get at that amazing spread! But I will shut my eyes and imagine a garden like yours behind my house. Those eight-foot fences cost a mint out here and that would mean giving up my trips to Italy in the summer. I shall live vicariously through your postcard-quality photos of your garden. Thanks for sharing! May you find some time to relax to soak up the beauty you've created.
