The Golden Time (but you know what that means. . .)
10/26/2015
We've reached it.
The Golden Time.
Although the neon reds and oranges are really magical, it's the golden color of fall that steals my heart.
My own gardens are glowing gold now.
Pretty much everywhere I look.
It's a melancholy time. The garden is finished for another season. It's time to move inside; time to hunker down against darkness and cold. I'm pretty much ready now.
(Because . . . nothing gold can stay.)
Nothing Gold Can Stay*
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day,
Nothing gold can stay.
==========
*This was the first poem I ever loved. (Thanks, Ponyboy.)
We have reached the golden time here as well and I love it, along with this poem. I hate that the temperatures have driven us in, but the fields of gold are my favorite as well.

We still have lots of oranges and reds but the golds are creeping in - I'm holding on to it because then everything turns brown and, well, blech to that. I think your garden is beautiful year round.

Thanks for that beautiful start to the week!

You've created a golden fall all around you. The cascading golden tree in the first picture is just stunning! Our fall colors are mostly golden and they are just starting to fill in around us here in the valley. The weather has been so beautiful and warm (warmest October ever), that I'm not sure I'm ready to hunker down for a long dark winter.

You can't help but love the colors this time of year, but the poem says it true. I too first loved that poem via The Outsiders.

The poem said it all. Spring and fall are both so ephemeral.

Very aptly put! Love the poem. The hickory trees here are lighting up my mornings here in the sun. The ferns are also turning a golden color too.

The forest floor up north was positively glowing with fallen gold... so beautiful!
