On the Mend
12/05/2012
It's been a week since Jenny's surgery, so I thought I'd give you a quick update.
Jenny is doing amazingly well, actually. Especially considering this nasty incision!
Yeah. She has a pretty funky haircut at the moment. It's kind of a cross between a poodle and a punk rocker . . . but only on her left side.
She's getting around very well, and already putting weight on her leg (which, according to the vet is exceptional and a very good sign). She is allowed free roam of the house, although she can't do stairs without a leash . . . and she can't crawl up in her favorite chair or the special corner of "her" couch for the time being. She can only be outside when nature calls (and I don't mean the squirrels!), and only on a leash. (No running or jumping.)
Jenny will get her stitches out in a week, and then we can begin doggy-physical-therapy, which sounds like a lot of walks . . . with intention! I can't wait; I have missed our walks for a very long time.
For now, Jenny just wants to get back to her treat! She's basking in our love and attention.
So good to hear that Jenny is handling everything so well.
Speedy recovery, Jenny!

That's quite a battle scar! Treats make everything better and scritches behind the ears are icing on the cake. I'll bet she's taking full advantage of all the love she can get. **pat, pat** good grrl

Yay, Jenny! You can tell by her focus on the treat that her surgery was just an inconvenient event. :-)
So glad she is doing well! Please give her a kiss from me.

Yay, Jenny! And yay, Kym, for taking such good care of her. I am awaiting a call to schedule my hip replacement. Maybe Jenny can give me some tips on healing after hip surger ;-)

Looks like you are managing quite well, although I think there must still be a lot of vigilance on your part. Jenny is such a trooper, though. Get well, Jenny! Good girl.

There's my girl! :D
I'm so glad she's doing well. Impressed she's not wearing the cone of shame. I hope she's a good PT patient and gets with the new program quickly. We need her strong and fit again.
Have you considered putting some pillows in a wagon and pulling her with you as you walk? ;^)

Glad she is doing so well! She needs a hand knit thigh high leg warmer to keep that flank toasty.
