Wade On In
Getting Real

Right Now. . . September

Here's what's going on in my life  . . . RIGHT NOW.

Watching . . . the leaves just beginning to turn.

Reading . . . Painter of Silence by Georgina Harding (still working through the Orange Prize longlist nominees; this one actually made the shortlist) and a rather meaty biography of Catherine the Great (inspired by my trip to St. Petersburg).

Knitting . . . Now that I've cleared the decks of my fiddly-stuff, I've cast on for this cardigan.  I also discovered some charming (and rather addicting) sock yarn.  There may also be a cowl whispering in my ear.

Humming . . . I'm so sorry to report this, but I'm humming Olivia Newton John tunes.  All of them.  (And it is completely Tom's fault.)

Thinking about . . . two Great Adventures!  First, I'm off to Salt Lake City to visit Margene (and Carole will be there, too!) and the Alta Lodge Knitter's Retreat.  Then, in a couple of weeks, I'm making a pilgrimage to Rhinebeck with Patty

Listening to . . . NOT Olivia Newton John.  Lately my iPod has been tuned to the Stone Temple Pilots.  (A far cry from "I Honestly Love You". . . let me tell you!)

Dreading . . . a BIG deadline coming up after I return from Utah. . . and before I go to Rhinebeck.  It'll be fun, let me tell you.

Planning . . . my final approach on the garden for the season.  Also, holiday plans are beginning to enter the consciousness.

Excited about . . . meeting Margene and Carole and Cheryl and Patty . . . IN REAL LIFE.

Drinking . . . Water.  Lots of water!  (I need to hydrate to prepare for high altitude.)

Itching to . . . paint!  STILL.  After all these months.  I do have progress to report, though.  The ceiling is finished.

Needing to . . . finish my packing and manage some loose ends.

Organizing . . . nothing at the moment.

Inspired by . . . adventure!

Delighted by. . . cool days and cooler nights; birds at my feeders; mums and pumpkins.

How about YOU?  What's going on for YOU . . . right now?

Haha, I think you know what's going on for me. There has been a little extra praying about weather, as the last thing I want is the smoke to return. We'll have a great time no matter what!!
1 more sleep!!

Have a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful trip! And I can't wait to see your Tinder, I've been admiring that pattern for a long time now.

Yes, water! Lots of water!

I didn't realize you were heading to Rhinebeck, too. I don't think I'm going to that but I'll have lots of time with you starting tomorrow and I'm so excited.

I'm looking out my office window right now toward Little Cottonwood Canyon. The clouds are breaking. Yay!

For the first time ever, hired maids came and cleaned my house! It was SO GREAT!!!
I have them scheduled bi-weekly, if finances allow will switch it up to weekly :-}
Two very nice women with tons of energy, and they even will help sort and discard boxes of stuff! Basically got the idea they will do anything and everything they can to help.
Yes. I like it.
Also playing around learning to use my double ended Tunisian hooks today. Fun!
New electric spinning wheel is on it's way, so want to read up on spinning too.

Can't wait for Rhinebeck!!! It's right around the corner!!

Any pattern you choose I either want to knit or knitted already... the cardigan is in the want group the cowl in the done - so I can tell you to be prepared, this cowl takes forever to knit, or at least this is what happened to me with it.

Have loads of fun in SLC and then in Rhinebeck - We meant to go this year but family matters prevent it from happening this time, oh well, maybe next year.

You have to promise me you'll have that Susan until she squeaks for me! /ahem

You're going to have so much fun! Want to keep coming west? I've got a living room that needs a paint job. ;^)

I am currently IN LOVE with ginger honey, wondering when the weather will cool during the day, and fighting the desire to make soup. Too hot! Crazy, I know, but welcome to my life. ;^)

Have a very safe trip, my friend.

Fun Fun Fun!!
I'm happy to say that I've been to both Knitting Retreat @ Alta and Rhinebeck and I have no doubt that you'll love both. Mostly, it's about the people and I know that you've got that part covered.
Hugs all around. I'll be thinking of you all!

I hope your trip is wonderful...tell everyone hi!
You didn't mention what knitting you are taking on your trip....you are taking something along?? ;)
