Everywhere I Look
Too Much Fun. . .

Just Plain Foliage

Projectspectrum

When most people think of "gardens" . . . they think of "flowers."  And, yeah . . . flowers are usually the showpieces of any garden.  Beautiful . . . but short-lived and fleeting.

(And, in the case of my peonies this year, VERY short-lived.)

The real workhouse of any garden, though, is the foliage.

I plan my gardens . . .

Love these photos! I'm fascinated with leaves right now, with green being the Project Spectrum focus this month. What amazes me... all the different greens there are, seeing other colors in the greens, like reds and blues.

I was not happy about the shady condition of our yard when we moved in, but have learned to embrace the hosta, among other things known more for foliage that flower -- the variety is amazing! Lovely examples, Kym!!

You've shown off the textures and shades of greens and reds of foliage in your garden so well!

I know! Isn't foliage wonderful? I love my shade garden the most of all with all the different shapes and colors of the leaves...

Yay, green!

One of my favorite things about living in Japan was the use of texture and unusual but subtle elements in the gardens. I wallowed in it.
