For the Love of Pi

ToT-Button
As every Nerd Household knows (and, trust me, I have a Nerd Household). . . yesterday was Pi Day.  3.14 (you know the rest).

Pi-Apple-Pie-160x160

Brian celebrated with a chemistry exam.  I think I'd rather celebrate with PiE!

This week, Ten on Tuesday has us examining our Ten Favorite Pies.  Mouth-watering, isn't it?  My favorites:

  1. Cherry Pie (especially with Northern Michigan Monmorency Tart Cherries; oh my - it really doesn't get much better than that!)
  2. Apple Pie (espcially with Michigan Spy Apples; YUM)
  3. Pumpkin Pie (my Mom's!)
  4. Pecan Pie (Tom's!)
  5. Pecan Pie with Chocolate Chips (also Tom's!)
  6. Key Lime Pie (no one else in my family likes it, but I love it -- so I usually have it only at restaurants)
  7. Combination-Berry Pies (like. . . Cherry/Blackberry/Blueberry)
  8. Blueberry Pie
  9. Pizza Pie (it's a pie!)
  10. Quiche Lorraine (this one counts, doesn't it?)

(And someday. . . I'll tell you a pie story that is etched deeply in Family Lore:   Tom and the Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie Incident.)

Mmmmmmm.  I want pie.

I agree with you: pizza = pie!

Patty

Pizza pie! The very best of all!

Allison

Combination berry pie sounds fabulous!

Vicki

Your cherries are like my cherries! This is the first list I've seen with quiche -- I definitely think that counts. Mmmmm.

Cookie

I wanna hear the story!

Marilyn

Yummy sounding pies! I was going to say no rhubarb on the list? And then I read the last sentence...now you have to tell us the story! :)

I love your pi pie! My favorite is one I invented a decade ago. I use plain gelatin and some juice, and after it is heated and dissolved I add fresh berries, fruit and ground nuts. I pour the cooled but not set-up mixture into a pre-baked pie crust (One using part wheat, and part nut flour is particularly yummy) and have a combination of baked and fresh flavors.... Yuuuummmmmm (maybe I will make it when berries are fresh again locally)

Sara

Absolutely - pizza is a pie.... :)
