Such Distractions!
Dear Fred

Digging Out

Ahhhhhhh.  The sun came out over the weekend.  The Thaw has begun!

With temperatures rising above 32° F, the thick ice starts to melt.

Running water starts to run. . . and pool.  Time to dig out the street drains!

Fortunately, after years of experience, Tom knows where to start digging to uncover the drain.

He also has the right tools for the job!  A scoop shovel, and an ice "spud."

Before long, he uncovers the drain.

And the water starts to flow.

Free-flowing thaw.  At last!

What a job! You must face ice problems often if for the right tool to be so handy.

Rachel

You sure are well equipped! all the right tools and most important the right person to handle them efficiently, good for you:)

Marilyn

Amen. Isn't it wonderful?!

Our's isn't running yet but the snowbanks are shrinking...it's easier to see over them at the intersections now!

Vicki

Oh, and don't you love the sound of water running into the drain after these months of silent snow?
; )

Cookie

He knows where the drain thingies are and can find them in the snow?! What a fabulous man!

lynn

It was sunny and up to 47 here yesterday.
Seemed like there were way more : ) on peoples faces. The only downside of our warmer weather - the opossums (sp) are venturing out - spring can't be far off.

That looks like the end of our driveway. And thanks - now I know what to get my DH for a holiday gift next year. I wonder if I can snag an ice spud at Farm Fleet this weekend!
