"Whether we and our politicians know it or not,
Nature is party to all our deals and decisions,
and she has more votes, a longer memory,
and a sterner sense of justice than we do."

Get outside, my friends.

Find a path and follow it.  Spend some time in a garden.  Look up at the sky.  Breathe the fresh air.  Listen to the water.

Connect with your environment.

Amen!

Exactly!

Tomorrow is supposed to be a perfect day, weather-wise, and I'm hoping to take a nice, leisurely walk. Few things in life are better. :-)

Yes! I felt so discouraged last evening, but today I've been out for a walk, did a bit of gardening, & plan to take my iced tea out to the patio along with a book later this afternoon. Things are looking brighter! My grandmother sometimes struggled with depression (she called it "the blues") and in those days before anti-depressants, her doctor recommended that she plant a garden and work in it every day. When gardening season was over, he recommended she go outside for a walk everyday, no matter the weather. She said his advice saved her and brought her deep joy.

Kym, you always find just the right poem for the moment. Thank you! Wendell Berry has an amazing sense of the land and how it is impacted by man.
