Oh - I forgot to put hot and sour soup on my list - one of my most favorite soups!

I love New England Clam Chowder too...

Sue

I make soup in the slow cooker too, I always have home made soup in the freezer for luch with bread. Have you tried soda bread with it? I will mail you my Sister-in-law's recipe - she is from and lives in Ireland, she's really health concsious so it has lots of yummy additions.

Yesterday I made a sweet potato, lentil and kidney bean stew that I ate with a spoon of sour cream in it and the soda bread with butter, it was so yummy its reheating as I type for a repeat peformance!

Vicki

So many soups!! One year -- either for Christmas Day or the Super Bowl -- we had a soup buffet and it was so much fun (but a lot of dishes)!

Diana Troldahl

Lovely recipe ideas! We love soup, too. And Oscar made some yummy beer bread yesterday.
Hmmm....

Split Pea makes me gag too :-) I loved that comment! LOL

Carole

I'm with Tom! And definitely with you on hot and sour soup - yummm! Have you ever made that one? I've only ever had it from a restaurant.

Patty

Great list! And now I need to find that cookbook as I'm using the slow cooker more than ever!

Mary

wow - finally something we disagree on - I'm a HUGE fan of split pea soup (but as a child, I hated it the way my mom made it, like gag-me hate. just saying!)

I think I need a copy of that test kitchens cookbook....and a slow cooker!

Soup feeds to soul like no other food.
Mushroom soup is one of my very favorites, but it's got to be flavorful and not so creamy. Best ever is in the Moosewood cookbook (and made by Smith's uncle). Split Pea does the same for me, Kym.

2nd DS traveled to a meeting/class in NC and had some wonderful soup at the hotel there. The chef was willing to share the recipes (12 of them!) and so I now have many many new soups to try!

I forgot about hot and sour soup! There used to be a place in the skyway in downtown Minneapolis that had the best h&s soup EVAH. It spoiled me for that soup anywhere else.
